Travis King graduated from Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD) in Georgia, earning a B.F.A. in Furniture Design.
He grew up in East Hampton, NY, just down the road from the homes of artists Jackson Pollock and Willem deKooning. Travis' family is comprised of craftsmen and has owned and operated a canvas and awning shop, C.E. King & Sons, in East Hampton, since 1948 and the shop also stretched canvas for many local artists, including Jackson Pollock.
In addition to subcontracting for Bulgin & Associates in Southampton, NY, Travis has done work for Fox Nahem, a Manhattan-based, architecture and interior design firm, which has been voted one of the top 50 design firms by New York Spaces Magazine for consecutive years.
Travis also builds and installs interiors for upscale residences, businesses, and hotels in NYC, New England and The Hamptons. Some of his recent work includes The Grace Vanderbilt Hotel and Brooks Brothers, both in Newport, Rhode Island, and millwork fabrication drawings for Ace Fabrications for condominium residences at The Standish, in Brooklyn Heights, NYC.
Other projects include interiors and project pieces for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Frick Museum, Gagosian Gallery in Manhattan (NYC) and The Yale University Gallery in Connecticut. Travis also created custom upholstery for luxury yacht owners for Palmer Johnson in Savannah, Georgia.
Travis designs and drafts interiors using AutoCAD and Sketchup and, by appointment, does installations.
Travis is dedicated in his pursuit of detail and perfection and he can work from concept through to creation and installation.
